A Wizard is never late!

Gandalf

He wore a tall pointed blue hat, a long grey cloak, and a silver scarf. He had a long white beard and bushy eyebrows that stuck out beyond the brim of his hat.” —The Fellowship of the Ring,A Long-expected Party

Gandalf (Norse; IPA: [gand:alf] – “Elf of the Wand” or “Wand-elf”) the Grey, later known as Gandalf the White, and originally named Olórin (Quenya; IPA: [oˈloːrin] – “Dreamer” or “Of Dreams”), was an Istar (Wizard), sent to Middle-earth in the Third Age to combat the threat of Sauron. He joined Thorin and his company to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from Smaug, convoked the Fellowship of the Ring to destroy the One Ring, and led the Free Peoples in the final campaign of the War of the Ring.

Life seeks to develop a work environment where we treat all as individuals, fairly and in a consistent way. Life works within spirit and practice to promoting a culture of respect and dignity and actively challenging discrimination, should it ever arise. Life will remove unnecessary barriers for our seekers and provide opportunities through training and development, promotion and life planning. Life will continue to support our leaders, managers and employees to demonstrate the principles of diversity and inclusion in their everyday activities, roles and functions.

Yggdrasil

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to navigationJump to search For other uses, see Yggdrasil (disambiguation).

Yggdrasil (from Old Norse Yggdrasill) is an immense mythical tree that plays a central role in Norse cosmology, where it connects the Nine Worlds.

Yggdrasil is attested in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources, and the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson. In both sources, Yggdrasil is an immense ash tree that is center to the cosmos and considered very holy. The gods go to Yggdrasil daily to assemble at their things, traditional governing assemblies. The branches of Yggdrasil extend far into the heavens, and the tree is supported by three roots that extend far away into other locations; one to the well Urðarbrunnr in the heavens, one to the spring Hvergelmir, and another to the well Mímisbrunnr. Creatures live within Yggdrasil, including the dragon Níðhöggr, an unnamed eagle, and the stags Dáinn, Dvalinn, Duneyrr and Duraþrór.

Scholars generally consider Hoddmímis holt, Mímameiðr, and Læraðr to be other names for the tree. The tree is an example of sacred trees and groves in Germanic paganism and mythology, and scholars in the field of Germanic philology have long discussed its implications.

Lyrics

Thou shalt not kill
Thou shalt not die

Cry!

Last fire will rise
Behind those eyes
Black house will rock
Blind boys don’t lie

Immortal fear
That voice so clear
Through broken walls
That scream I hear

Cry, little sister! (Thou shalt not fall)
Come, come to your brother! (Thou shalt not die)
Unchain me, sister! (Thou shalt not fear)
Love is with your brother! (Thou shalt not kill)

Blue masquerade
Strangers look on
When will they learn
This loneliness?

Temptation heat
Beats like a drum
Deep in your veins
I will not lie

Little sister! (Thou shalt not fall)
Come, come to your brother! (Thou shalt not die)
Unchain me, sister! (Thou shalt not fear)
Love is with your brother! (Thou shalt not kill)

My Shangri-Las
I can’t forget
Why you were mine
I need you now!

Cry, little sister! (Thou shalt not fall)
Come, come to your brother! (Thou shalt not die)
Unchain me, sister! (Thou shalt not fear)
Love is with your brother! (Thou shalt not kill)

Cry, little sister! (Thou shalt not fall)
Come, come to your brother! (Thou shalt not die)
Unchain me, sister! (Thou shalt not fear)
Love is with your brother! (Thou shalt not kill)

Equality, beliefs and a democratic beast

Victories are not written for or by a mortal winner in the eyes of an omnipresent God

If you are Godless do not justify your actions as Godlike for God will see through your veil.

If you know what you are doing is wrong, do not seek to coat or lace your actions as if what you do is righteousness or good.

FOR THE JEDI WITHIN

Your Allie is the force and a powerful ally it is.

We do not take seek control of the force nor are we slaves or masters of its will.

FOR THE CITIZEN

Do not be in a hurry to be seen to break your enemies rules.

Do not go gently into a trap designed to snare your thoughts and dreams.

FOR ALL

When a hope of victory becomes real that is a time to move and when we see peace on the horizon that is the worthy fight.

The best sort of battle is thought not with sword or sheild, but pen and paper within the ballot box.

Dead Poet Society – What will your verse be?

Is democracy the worst form of Government?

There is no alternative to Democracy that works for the people and nor should there be.

‘Many forms of Government have been tried, and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed it has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.…’

Winston S Churchill, 11 November 1947

Voice of Democracy (VOD) is an annual nationwide scholarship program sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). It is an audio-essay contest for high school students in grades 9-12. The program annually provides more than $2.3 million in scholarships. The first-place winner, who competes with all the first-place VFW Department (state) winners, receives a $30,000 scholarship that is paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college or vocational/technical school.

Besides competing for the top scholarship prize, as well as other national scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $16,000, each Department’s first-place winner receives an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. in March (annually).

The Voice of Democracy Program began in 1946 and was originally sponsored by the National Association of Broadcasters. Initially, there were four winners selected, representing the North, South, East and West regions of the country. Each winner received a $500 savings bond and a wristwatch. The second year of the program, a student by the name of Charles Kuralt, the late television news broadcaster and author, was one of the winners.

It is endorsed by the contest criteria of the National Association of Secondary School Principals and is designed to foster patriotism by allowing students the opportunity to voice their opinion in a three- to five-minute essay based on an annual theme. Historically, the Voice of Democracy theme (chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief annually) is purposely kept broad in scope to allow the participant flexibility in interpretation, and thus, encourage originality. The new theme is posted on the website by May of each year.

The audiotape or audio CD (with the typed essay recited word-for-word), the actual typed essay, and completed official student entry form must be delivered to a local, participating VFW Post by the student entry deadline of October 31.

One of Boris’s motos appears to be if in a hole keep digging. The biggest infrastucture project for 100 years.

What will be the cost?

Of the 67 MPs constituencies crossed for HS2 high speed rail linked the majority object to it being built in their constituencies.

Thatcher banned milk from our schools and shafted the miners. Some people never forget or forgave her for that and it was very much what her legacy was defined by her critics.

Could Boris’s incompetent handling of HS2 and his efforts to bulldoze through the countryside be high Maggie moment which when it goes wrong with costs spiralling and ecocide and wilful destruction of this green and pleasant land being backed by him coming back to haunt Boris. To avoid a colossal bill coming down the tracks, the HS2 minister Andrew Stephenson must act.

Just heard this evening that the wildife investigation is still continuing with Network rail and they have still provided no evidence of what they have done, whilst also accepting no guilt for the actions that they have taken. They are now claiming that a native species of caterpillar infestation has resulted in them having to cut down a long swath of scrub along the embankment admiting no guilt for the removal of any nesting sites that were cut down in the process.

Brown-tail caterpillar - Euproctis chrysorrhoea | Brown-tail… | Flickr
The native brown tail moth caterpillar they are now blaiming as the reson for cutting back and removing the nests.

My response to the Police was as follows

Thank you for your email, I am pleased that you will be able to find out who actually identified and approved this work and how network rail were made aware that it was needed to be undertaken. I did not realise that this native species to the UK could be such a threat on railway lines and that network rail were actively cleaning tracks because of this. When I spoke to the network rail staff that I saw on the first day that they were doing the cutting, they only said they were clearing brambles to make the pavements for pedestrians clearer, they must be so modest to not say there true intention to me to be carry out such important work.

Such a shame that whoever found the infestation did not take a photo to so as to warn others of this potential infestation of caterpillars; it must have been such a large amount of caterpillars to remove so much of the embankment? I assume the council only becomes aware of what was happening after you informed them and had no prior knowledge of what was going on concerning the cleanup operation.

I am also assuming that they have been given permission to remove birds nest if caterpillars are in the same section of scrub. Is that correct?

In summary my two main questions are who informed network rail of this stretch of land being infested by this native species and were they aloud to remove birds’ nests at this time of year because of the caterpillar population along such a long stretch of land?

I am still waiting for a response and evidence of thier actions.

The webs we weave

A Jedi’s story yet to be told

So this is an unusual blog I have a lot I could say about very little and not sure yet how to say it. After the great support of my local green councillor I signed up to be a member of the Green Party of England & Wales. I try not to be political in my life and even thought I was a huge supporter of Jeremy Corbyn and really bought into the philosophy of ‘For the Many & Not the Few’ I never felt like he owned his own party and they seemed to blame him more for not being in power than they blamed the Tories. Which arguably left to an own goal for labour and a victory for the Conservative led by Boris Johnson at the election victory. It’s a pity your government was not as efficient at clearing the virus as you were at winning an election as it might not have quite so much blood on its hands then.

Green light goes ahead for HS2 by Boris’s Government presently see article from LBC radio again Bravo Boris another job well done.

So why am I bitching about this well I have spoken to 2 wildlife Police officers in the last 48 hours as well as receiving two emails from my elected councillor for my ward of St. David’s in Exeter. I supplied four photos of evidence of the damage that Network rail did to the railway track outside my house which led to the present investigation by the police and also led to me joining the green party.

I have also had East West Rail checking out at least one of my websites this week and they are Linked in to the people in government building HS2.

The logo is not very clear as they seem to have turned to the darkside.

I have also had confirmation from my Green councillor that they have policies to support wildlife which are as follows.

Caroline Lucas launches Green Party nature commitments, and A New Deal for Nature*

Place: The Linnean Society, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1J
0BF.  Time: 11am.

Caroline Lucas, former co-leader of the Green Party and its candidate in Brighton Pavilion, will be showcasing the Party’s commitments on nature and launching A New Deal for Nature, at an event at The Linnean Society in central London.

‘ A New Deal for Nature is an independent report commissioned earlier this  year to inform her work in Parliament, as well as to feed in to the  Green Party’s policies on nature and stimulate public and political  debate.  It’s been written by a group of leading UK conservationists and
nature writers, Mark Cocker, Jeremy Mynott, Jake Fiennes, Helen Smith  and Patrick Barkham.

“We are not only running out of time on the climate emergency, there’s also little time left to reverse the catastrophic decline in nature and
wildlife,” Lucas said.

“This election has to mark a turning point and the moment when people vote for Nature.”

*Green party commitments on nature and wildlife*

It is more urgent than ever to reverse the decline of wildlife and nature in Britain, one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world.  The 2019 State of Nature report found that 41% of species in the UK have declined, and a quarter of mammals are at risk of disappearing
altogether.

The Green Party’s manifesto has more than 70 proposals related to nature and wildlife, with the boldest and best policies for protecting it – for the benefit of people and nature.  As the UN global assessment of nature, the IPBES, made clear, the breaking of environmental limits
presents extreme danger for all humanity.

Among manifesto pledges are a 10-year transition to agro-ecological farming, more outdoor learning and the introduction of a GCSE in Natural History to encourage better knowledge and understanding of nature.

One of the party’s key proposals is for a Sustainable Economy Act, so that the way we run our economy works with nature not against it, with new legally binding targets for biodiversity, soil health and water quality alongside other measures.

It is a broken economic system which has caused both the climate and biodiversity crises, and that has to be addressed if we are to restore our natural world.

That means moving away from endless consumption and GDP growth as the measure of economic success, scrapping environmentally destructive projects like HS2 and airport expansion, and repurposing the economy so that it also serves the needs of future generations.

While the Green Party manifesto is more ambitious and comprehensive than any other in its pledges on nature and wildlife, the Party recognises the importance of being challenged by experts to ensure policies measure up to the challenges we face.

*Report recommendations*

A New Deal for Nature focuses on eight areas for change including farming, schools & young people, urban wildlife, the marine environment and biosecurity.  Among its 80 recommendations are:

* New national parks, with a goal of designating 20% of Britain asnational park.
* Every farmer should devote a minimum of 15% of their land to nature, and be paid to do so.
* All primary schools should deliver one hour a day outdoor learning every day, in addition to break time.
* Twin every primary school with a farm
* Encourage more wildlife-friendly gardens by casting off the obsession with tidiness. Ban the sale of all plastic grass, unlessfor sports pitches via planning permission.
* Wild public land. Hospital grounds to be re-greened and re-wilded toaid patient recovery
* Permanently protect some brownfield sites as SSSIs, give others “pop-up” temporary wildlife protection
* A moratorium on expansion of aquaculture operations, particularlyopen-cage salmon farming, shown to be harming the aquatic environment..
* Improve early-warning systems to assess the threats posed byinvasive, non-native species which are growing by 10-12 speciesevery year.
quite well.

Let the truth set us free.

Ecocide is the enemy and unless you know what the enemy is you don’t know how to face it or how to defeat it.

Revenge of the Sith

Not the happiest Star War’s title for May the 4th, but I do like to think outside the box.

So I started contacting my councillor and the police among others about a potential wildlife crime taking place along the railway track last week and the Wildlife Crimes officer phoned me today to say he had received mine and the councillor’s emails about the destruction of nest sites along the rail embankment.

He confirmed a fear of mine which was that to destroy a nesting site is indeed a crime, but only actually but witnessing the crime or having evidence of said crime could anything be done to legally tackle the crime. I did not bother to ask what the punishment would be as this seamed rather trivial.

So there we have a crime has taken place along rail embankments all across the UK during nesting season on a daily basis not just here but nationwide every nesting season and the only people with the evidence to report it are the very same people that are committing the crime in the first place.

This is madness it is like asking a fox hunt to police cruelty against foxes or a domestic abuser to be the only person that can report his or her crimes. A hunter reporting that he accidently caught a healthy fox or a domestic abuser phoning up to tell the police they have just attacked their partner and the police turning up to take the evidence from the aggressor who is then prosecuted due to his own testament! Bonkers or what a crazy piece of legislation. What then worries me is this ecocide legislation is accepted by the police and was designed and enacted by our politicians and then enforced by or judges and lawyers. They are all accomplices to the injustice of ecocide and by very implication guilty themselves to the law of the land. Ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law.

Martin Luther King Quote "When Evil Men Plot", MLK Promena… | Flickr

What is the meaning of a stitch time saves nine? Procrastination means to delay or put off doing something until a later time. People use “a stitch in time saves nine” to express that it’s better to spend a little time and effort to deal with a problem right now than to wait until later, when it may get worse and take longer to deal with.

Imagine if you will if Anakin had not turned to the darkside and the plot had been discovered how cool woudl that have been to be a Jedi then.

A new hope

So Went out to pick up supplies first thing this morning one of the items purchased was a new 4 pack of Guinness which I was looking forward to starting on tonight as I had not had a drink since I last went to a pub some 6 weeks ago. On the way back from the shops I saw some more network rail engineers. Not cutting up the trees and shrubs on the other side of the railway line. My thoughts went wild.

I thought this time I had a lot of work to do for my employer plus meetings to go to today so I could not afford to deal with this matter on my own and had to hope that the Police and my councillor could sort it out between themselves. I managed to get a brief photo from a distance of the men at work.

The top of the workers are the little orange dots in the distance which is their hi res jackets.

So logged into work and did as much as I could up to 5pm and then logged out and checked my phone and personal emails after that.

II had received a message which the police were also copied into which had only arrived in my email at 16:12pm that day. It was by my locally elected green councillor. She had checked with other neighbours regarding my concerns and also emailed Network rail, copying me and the police into her email

Dear All
I have spoken to network rail and informed them that this matter has been referred to the Police for investigation. The reference number is 200501-000901
Network rail said they will be speaking to the duty manager to investigate. I have asked to be updated about the review. I explained that while the brambles may need to be cut back that it isn’t allowed during the nesting season and they should ensure that their work falls within the Act to permit them to do so.

I can confirm that there is wildlife that uses  the embankment as resident have told me about it and I used this information in response to a recent planning application adjacent to the railway line.

Please can you let me know the outcome of this investigation.

I was so relieved to have someone else on my side with more knowledge of the law and awareness of who to contact and what to say and some of the little birds came back out to play today too.

We might not have save The Alphington railway line track to Marsh Barton but we let them know we new what they had done and asking for an explanation as to why thsi had been done.

So that’s all I know now. I can’t magic the trees out of thin air or prey for the birds to have their homes back. But hopefully those that had built nests can fly away and find homes else ware as wildlife refugees to try again.

I will try and keep you updated on what happens next if anythink. After work tonigth I also sat back and had my first pint in over 6 weeks tonight I normally don’t drink at home but this is in no way normal so.

So Cheers
