3 little birds

So I went out for my daily newspaper and rations this morning and made it to the newsagents in the Corner of St Thomas’ in Exeter. On my way I was able to take my first pictures of some birds. I did not knows if they were going to let me.

I walked from a distance around them and then all 3 flew towards me which I was not expecting and unfortuntly did not get a photo of my camera is fairly basic but it does the job.

I could have had better detail but really pleased with the 3 for 1 deal I snapped

Meet the ICU nurse who silently stood in protest at a rally to reopen Arizona

Updated 1751 GMT (0151 HKT) April 24, 2020

(CNN)On her day off from working at a Covid-19 unit in an Arizona hospital, ICU nurse Lauren Leander threw on a pair of clean scrubs and headed to an anti-lockdown protest at the state Capitol. She was determined to be a voice for her patients through silence.Leander, a Banner Health nurse of five years, joined an intimate group of healthcare workers on Monday to counter protest at the Capitol, where people gathered to urge the governor to reopen the state.Standing up straight, her arms crossed and face mask on, Leander stood on the Capitol steps, with a handful of healthcare workers lined up by her side. She said she only spoke if someone encroached on her personal space, despite people raising their voices at her.”It was heated, people were very fired up about what they had to say,” she said. “A lot of the top comments we got were about us being fake nurses, there was a huge majority of them that still believe this virus is fake, that it’s a hoax and not real at all. They were convinced that we’re fake nurses and that’s why we weren’t talking.” Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has put a stay-at-home order in place until April 30. Because of this, several different groups of rallied at the Capitol to say the economy has suffered enough and the order needs to be lifted, according to CNN affiliate KNXV.ICU nurse Lauren Leander attended protest in support of fellow healthcare workers and coronavirus patients. Michael Chow/The Republic/ImagnLeander told CNN she volunteered to work in the hospital’s Covid-19 unit full time and has been seeing patients from all over the state for the last month.https://9a3aa20e1aac5308b2246d0a938f6606.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-37/html/container.html”I just hope people see that nurses are not the enemy and we’ll take care of them one way or the other,” Leander said. “I don’t care if you believe in this virus or not or truly what your opinion is of it, if these people show up in my ICU we will take care of them one way or another.”

The power of silence

After seeing photos and video Sunday of people at a rally in Denver, Colorado, demanding the state reopen and ease restrictions designed to slow the spread of coronavirus, Leander said she was inspired and wanted to stand up in support of her fellow healthcare workers. After seeing a Facebook post about Monday’s rally, Leander said she texted a few of her colleagues and headed there.

Preliminary antibody testing in New York suggests much wider spread of coronavirus

I know it’s wishful thinking but I just would love if we just had that common ground with fighting this virus.”Leander said right now the public needs to be listening to the experts who are studying this virus. Even as nurses, they’re relying on science to guide them. “Our main message was that we wanted healthcare workers’ voices to be heard louder than misinformation and fear,” Leander said. “There will be a calm and controlled manner to reopen our economy and our state…you don’t open the flood gates and release everyone at once.”

Experiencing heartbreaking moments at work

Photos from the rally in Denver caught the attention of many on social media, including former Arizona state Sen. Dr. Kelli Ward, who challenged Sen. John McCain in the Republican primary in 2016.https://9a3aa20e1aac5308b2246d0a938f6606.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-37/html/container.htmlWard tweeted Tuesday morning, questioning the authenticity of the healthcare workers who attended and calling the movement propaganda.”EVEN IF these ‘spontaneously’ appearing ppl at protests against govt overreach (sporting the same outfits, postures, & facial expressions) ARE involved in healthcare – when they appeared at rallies, they were actors playing parts #Propaganda #FakeOutrage,” Ward tweeted.

Leander has not seen any of her family members since she’s been working in the Covid-19 unit. And although that lost time has been tough, what she’s been experiencing in the hospital is tougher. “A human being having to pass away via FaceTime because their family is not allowed in the hospital during this crisis, it’s the most heartbreaking thing you will ever see,” she said.A few days ago, Leander said she had a patient grab her hand and say, “Please tell me I’m not going to die here.”While Leander knows better days are ahead, she said it doesn’t take away from the reality that there are people impacted and suffering right now.

Sergio Moro: Brazil’s popular justice minister quits in Bolsonaro clash

Brazil’s popular justice minister has resigned from President Jair Bolsonaro’s government, accusing him of political interference.

Sergio Moro, a former judge who oversaw the country’s biggest anti-corruption probe, quit after the president fired the federal police chief.

Mr Moro said Mr Bolsonaro demanded someone who would provide him with direct intelligence.

In a public address, the far-right president called the claims “baseless”.

“The appointment is mine, the prerogative is mine and the day I have to submit to any of my subordinates I cease to be president of the republic,” Mr Bolsonaro said flanked by most of his cabinet in the presidential palace in Brasília.

But Brazil’s public prosecutor Augusto Aras asked the Supreme Court to allow an investigation into Mr Moro’s allegations against the president.

How did the political row escalate?

The dismissal of federal police chief Mauricio Valeixo was announced, with no further details, in the official gazette on Friday.

On Thursday, Mr Moro had threatened to resign if Mr Valeixo – his ally – were dismissed, but then said he would stay if he were allowed to choose a replacement.

Earlier this month, the president sacked his Health Minister Luiz Henrique Mandetta for his response to the coronavirus pandemic. The minister had advocated social distancing, which Mr Bolsonaro has scorned.

Fighting corruption was a central issue for Jair Bolsonaro in his 2018 presidential campaign. https://emp.bbc.co.uk/emp/SMPj/2.32.6/iframe.html Media captionThe BBC’s South America correspondent Katy Watson looks at how Bolsonaro has responded to the virus in Brazil

But Mr Moro on Friday accused the president of meddling in federal police efforts to fight corruption.

The sound of pot-banging protests rang out in cities across Brazil after his resignation was announced.

Blow to the Bolsonaro government

The departure of Jair Bolsonaro’s most popular minister is a blow to his government – Sergio Moro was a star minister. He was seen by his supporters as an anti-corruption crusader.

It is a departure that Jair Bolsonaro has clearly taken personally too, judging by his 45-minute television address on Friday afternoon. He recounted being snubbed by Mr Moro at the airport a few years ago, and accused him of not caring enough after he was stabbed during the campaign in 2018.

There is no doubt Mr Bolsonaro looks weaker now than ever – the events of Friday mark one of the most dramatic days in Brazilian politics in recent years.

Many are wondering who will be next – will the likes of Paulo Guedes, his economy minister and another star member of the cabinet, remain loyal or jump to save his reputation?

All this drama is distracting from a more urgent crisis – the number of coronavirus cases and deaths are rising ever faster each and every day.

Who is Moro?

Seen as an anti-corruption crusader, Mr Moro was a star pick when Mr Bolsonaro asked him to join the government.

Mr Moro earlier oversaw a huge corruption probe known as Operation Car Wash, which exposed billions of dollars in bribes and ended in the jailing of many powerful businessmen and politicians, including leftist former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

He once said he “would never enter politics”, but later agreed to serve in Mr Bolsonaro’s cabinet in order to fight corruption and organised crime.

He was promised full autonomy for his department, which united the justice and public security portfolios in a so-called “super ministry”.

Liberation theology

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to navigationJump to search Not to be confused with Liberal theology.

Liberation theology is a synthesis of Christian theology and socio-economic analyses, based in far-left politics, particularly Marxism, that emphasizes “social concern for the poor and political liberation for oppressed peoples.”[1] In the 1950s and the 1960s, liberation theology was the political praxis of Latin American theologians, such as Gustavo Gutiérrez of Peru, Leonardo Boff of Brazil, Juan Luis Segundo of Uruguay, and Jon Sobrino of Spain, who popularized the phrase “Preferential option for the poor.”

The Latin American context also produced evangelical advocates of liberation theology, such as C. René Padilla of Ecuador, Samuel Escobar of Peru, and Orlando E. Costas of Puerto Rico, who, in the 1970s, called for integral mission, emphasizing evangelism and social responsibility.

Theologies of liberation have developed in other parts of the world such as black theology in the United States and South Africa, Palestinian liberation theology, Dalit theology in India, and Minjung theology in South Korea.

Unprecedented virus lockdown as Muslims mark Ramadan

Holy daytime fasting month will be a sombre affair for many across Asia, the Middle East and North Africa. 16 hours ago

more on Ramadan 2020

Muslims around the world began marking Ramadan under coronavirus lockdown on Friday with unprecedented bans on family gatherings and mass prayers, while a pushback in some countries sparked fears of a surge in infections.

This year, the holy daytime fasting month will be a sombre affair for many across Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.

Widespread rules have been imposed banning praying in mosques or meeting relatives and friends for large “iftar” meals at dusk – a centrepiece of the month-long fast.

More:

Saudi Arabia’s King Salman said he was saddened that Muslims could not pray at mosques because of coronavirus restrictions.

“It pains me to welcome the glorious month of Ramadan under circumstances that forbid us of prayers in Mosques and of performing the Ramadan prayers of Tarawieh and Qiyam in House of Allah. All this is due to the protective measures taken to save lives and human wellbeing in light of the global threat of COVID-19,” he said in a statement cited by the state SPA news agency.

Saudi Arabia announced last week the two holy mosques in Mecca and Medina would remain closed throughout Ramadan.

Ramadan is the holiest month for Muslims, in which they fast during daylight hours, congregate for prayers and share meals as a community.

But because of coronavirus, almost all Muslim-majority countries have closed mosques and asked people to pray at home in addition to imposing curfews to limit the spread of the deadly virus.

“I can’t remember anything like this happening before,” Mohd Faizal Musa, a research fellow at the National University of Malaysia’s Institute of the Malay World and Civilization, told Al Jazeera.

Coronavirus has left many in the blockaded Gaza Strip wondering how they will manage this year.

“The markets and mosques are closed. The good people who give us money or aid each Ramadan are facing a tough situation,” said 47-year-old Palestinian Salah Jibril, who is unemployed.

He and his wife live with their six children in a cramped two-bedroom flat on the outskirts of Gaza City.

Jibril said his family normally counted on using the assistance they received during Ramadan to help them throughout the rest of the year.

“This is the hardest Ramadan we have faced. We don’t know how we will cope,” he said.

While you were sleeping

The aristocracy of the world if you are reading this in a wealthy country that is you and me. Are you worrying about how much you love each other and how much God loves you. Well while you were having your own personal melt down and ego trip you were blind to the true suffering on this earth.

Many citizens of the global planet are slaves to your and mine need to buy products in our shops to satisy our own desires.

Some of the new western fashion for egos of the righteous aristocrats are those that post photos of dead animals on their websites and facebook pages boasting about how righteous they are becasue they choose to not eat meat. Well woopy fecking do for them.

How much money do they spend on foods that are grown all across the globe by those potentially living on just $1 a day so that they can veganisatically or vegitarianly pat themselves on the back and boast about how self-righteous them and their friends are and how dam great they are and that they are the future – self centred aristocratic muppets.

What about those that indigenios tribes that live by traditional means around the globe uising the raw materials of nature in order to survive are you that much of a eateary zelot that you would advocate them stopping there traditional methods of survival and living?

What about the land that has been desined to be harvested and cradle planet and animal stock alike for thousands of years.

What gives you the right to advocate that. Veganism or vegitariansim while ignoring the plight of the planet is in any way morally superior, to me it is the logic of a machine not a living organism. The plants that we eat all have a life force and just becasue you don’t hear them scream as you take them out of the ground does not mean that their life force is any more or less sacred than the animals that you no longer put in your mouths.

If you want to eat chemically synthasised stodge and none living engineered slop instead of living organisms then you might as well sign you up to be plugged into the machine and downloaded now.

And while that is being argued the toss over what have you done for those starving in the world today or are you too busy selfmasterventing on how great you and your fellow rich bible bashers or vegi ravers are?

Millions could die in ‘multiple famines of biblical proportions’ in pandemic, UN warns

An estimated 300,000 people could begin starving to death daily in “multiple famines of biblical proportions” within months amid the coronavirus pandemic, warned head of the World Food Program David Beasley.

Describing the coronavirus pandemic as “the worst humanitarian crisis since World War II” in a presentation to the United Nations Security Council Tuesday, Beasley warned that the number of people suffering from hunger could go from 135 million to more than 250 million and urgent action was needed, especially when it comes to vulnerable populations in conflict-driven countries.

“If we can’t reach these people with the life-saving assistance they need, our analysis shows that 300,000 people could starve to death every single day over a three-month period,” Beasley said.

He requested $350 million in new funding to set up a network of logistics hubs to keep worldwide humanitarian supply chains moving while urging warring factions in conflict-driven countries to allow them to serve people at risk of hunger.

“If we don’t prepare and act now — to secure access, avoid funding shortfalls and disruptions to trade — we could be facing multiple famines of biblical proportions within a short few months,” he said.

The Global Report on Food Crises 2020, a consensus-based assessment of acute food insecurity situations around the world by 16 partner organizations, noted that the 135 million people recorded in 2019 as suffering from hunger was the highest in the four years since the report was first published. The current situation, the report notes, is likely to be much worse as it did not factor in the shock of the coronavirus pandemic.

“The acute food insecurity forecasts for 2020 were produced before COVID-19 became a pandemic and do not account for its likely impact in food crisis countries,” the report said.

While conflict was reported as the main driver of food insecurity in 2019, weather extremes and economic shocks were also noted as significant.

More than half of the 77 million acutely food insecure people in countries where conflict was identified as the primary driver were in the Middle East and Asia. Africa was reported as having the largest numbers of acutely food-insecure people in need of assistance in countries badly affected by weather events, particularly in the Horn of Africa and Southern Africa, followed by Central America and Pakistan.

“While COVID-19 does not discriminate, the 55 countries and territories that are home to 135 million acutely food-insecure people in need of urgent humanitarian food and nutrition assistance are the most vulnerable to the consequences of this pandemic as they have very limited or no capacity to cope with either the health or socioeconomic aspects of the shock,” the report noted.

“These countries may face an excruciating trade-off between saving lives or livelihoods or, in a worst-case scenario, saving people from the corona virus to have them die from hunger. To prevent these tens of millions of people already facing food crises from succumbing to the virus or to its economic consequences, all actors need to mobilize and coordinate along a set of operational and strategic priorities.”

In an interview with the BBC, Beasley who recently recovered from the coronavirus, said an estimated 30 million people could die in a matter of months if the U.N. did not secure more food and funding.

WFP’s senior economist, Arif Husain, said, “It is a hammer blow for millions more who can only eat if they earn a wage.” He added that the economic impact of the coronavirus pandemic was potentially catastrophic for millions “who are already hanging by a thread.”

“Lockdowns and global economic recession have already decimated their nest eggs. It only takes one more shock — like Covid-19 — to push them over the edge. We must collectively act now to mitigate the impact of this global catastrophe,” he said.

Don’t feel like you have to give a dam because your Jesus loves you and your sinfull life in your rich aristocratic lifestyle of the developed world.

And they call you the evolved and educated. More like the blind, sleeping and ignorant. Happy self isolation and self serving.

Exeter Indy

Just got this flyer through the post this evening from some independent restarants in Exeter standing up for their own future. Again life finds a way when you have vision.

I think I’m going to have something from eat the bird on the weekend for a treat. It will support a local eatery and be something scrumtious for me too.

So gad it’s Friday tomorrow.

I went shopping in St Thomas today and was looking around for something to photograph and saw what could have been a heroin needle dumped in the corner where local homeless people sometimes sit. I know they do not all need to take such drugs but it’s a very sad sight to see and not worthy of me photographing it.

This is the side of the lovely old railway bridge for trains to Cornwall

Not quite infinity and beyond

I would recommend in thsi day and age you pay your way what ever your doing cause no one wants to be the one caught breaking rules.

My camera was fairly basic so I could not quite catch all the seeds on this little feller looks like he is ready for when the wind blows.

Finally picture is some more hot cross buns from the bakery.

Welsh Dragon

So today is St Georges day and seeing as I am a Welsh erm person and I thought I would put that title up to attract some attention. So today is the anniversary of the death of St George. Well I thought I would post up some information I found about my birthday.

If you were born on July 12, 1976 that makes you a Dragon with the element of Fire and the stem of Positive. In other words you are a Positive Fire Dragon. Don’t know what that means? Don’t worry, keep reading and you’ll soon understand.

Your lucky number is 2

Your best match is a Rooster! Both are strong willed, ambitious and clever. The Rooster likes to nag and if the Dragon can learn to ignore this little short coming, there is plenty of flair and excitement for both. The years of the Rooster: 1957, 1969, 1987, 1993, 2005, 2017.

The Dragon is the symbol of ancient China. The Dragon is revered with equal status as the Chinese Emperor as his throne is the Dragon and only he can wear the Dragon robe. The Dragon year is popular with every Chinese parent who hopes for a Dragon child. The Dragon is a karmic sign and those born in the year of the Dragon are said to wear the ”horns of destiny”.

roud, aristocratic, eccentric, egotistical and extremely forthright and direct, Dragons will establish their goals and ideals quite early in life. They set high standards for themselves and have the potential to accomplish great things. They possess little to no self-doubt and are courageous, individualistic and pioneering. Inspired by their own grandiose and colorful visions, whatever they attempt will be either stupendous, trail-blazing successes or dramatic failures. Whatever their chosen path, they must follow it, regardless of the consequences. They were born with a mission in life and it is their destiny to fulfill it.

Dragons are admired but have few close friends. In love relationships, they are dutiful but they have a problem being diplomatic and refuse to accept defeat when in a fight.

Downright electrifying, Fire Dragons breathe vigor and power. These natural leaders smile at adversity, turn complainers into optimists, and lead lives as inspired as a Beethoven Sonata. They are square shooters in dealing with individuals and are often called upon to mediate disputes. Because they care so much about people, Fire Dragons like to support charitable causes and bring friends together for elegant evening soirees. These Dragons are fired with ambition, unflagging enthusiasm, and intelligence and enjoy most impressive careers as a result. Despite all the money they make, Finance is a big question mark. Money is easy come easy go. Until they control their spending habits, money will just go flying in the wind. Romantics at heart, Fire Dragons can”t help playing Matchmaker. They”re pretty lucky, too! As for themselves, they ooze charisma and never need anyone to fix them up. Successful in love, often placed on pedestals, Fire Dragons are attractive and have fire in the belly. The opposite sex feels very secure.

According to the Western Zodiac, you were born under the sign of Cancer.

According to the ancient Egyptians, you were born under the influence of Anubis. This means you are sensitive, persitent and out-spoken. According to the ancient Egyptian zodiac your sacred animal is the jackal.

Cancer

The God of Death rules over this zodiac sign, and it leads people to be passionate and creative. Not only that, but they are extremely sensitive to others and about their own feelings, which causes them to have unpredictable emotions. They are introverts but confident ones who aren’t afraid to take charge when need be. They don’t restrain themselves when speaking their mind, but they’ve always made sure they’ve observed all options before coming to a decision. They hold onto goals for long periods of time, even if it takes them years to complete, they refuse to let it go until it’s done. They do suffer from caring too much about those around them, and can be taken advantage of because they just want to help. Because they are happy to speak their mind, they often find themselves saying things at inappropriate times.

Not forgetting a tune too.

The Flaming Lips – Do You Realize

The Children of Men & Women

This film just popped up in my YouTube account when I started searching for a song about something else, it’s about a dystopian future where hope rides in a single human being and people must run and escape to some fantastical community of hope for humanity that will solve humanities problems. I saw this film not long after it came out and a little nonsensical. There is no magical human project to run to there is no magical group of people going to solve your problems or save you from yourself.

The power to hope, to love, to care to work to actually give a dam for a new and better world and society lies within each of us come old or young. Each of us can bring miracles into this world and we all have the potential to be righteous to be good humans to be the greatest minds in the world working for a new society. This is neither difficult to do or rocket science.

The smallest of people can bring about the greatest of changes.

Speaking of the little people it hurts to see so many young people having the raw power and bravery in our time to stand up for what they believe in and be counted for climate change, ending of poverty, supporting of a health service and emotional fighting for a better world. They shame us all. When greater minds, world religious and political leaders simply close their eyes to global suffering, close their hearts to the love that lies in those with differences to themselves, shut their eyes to uncomfortable truths in today’s world, or refuse to hear with their own ears what appears to be deafening to others. Finally our so called elders, leaders and wise ones refuse to speak their truths so that we all might hear and find sustenance in their greater knowledge and good.

Why do we now turn to our children to be our teachers what has man learned in the core of his or her being since the birth of mankind. Is the answer that we know nothing, we have learned nothing we will repeat yesterday mistake today and then continue to commit them tomorrow. Are these the lessons that man bestows to his or her children?

We should all feel naked and ashamed when we are being taught by our children how to live, love and be enlightened onto a righteous side of life.

This song is by a singer called Nick Drake a Singer Song writer that did not conform to what we describe as normal, succesful or popular and powerful people. Sadly his life ended due to the medication that he was on it is not clear to this day whether it was suicide or accidental overdose.

And so the cycle of fighting with ourselves, our peers our allies and our rivals goes on for yet another moment in time is lost forever.

Oh what a fecking joy!!

This song has come up on my playlist a couple of times recently even though it’s on random!

Trained shopper

So nothing much to report today, thank God! Went on my usual walk to the shops trying to ensure I was not run over by Co-op Lorries, BT Vans or Bin Lorries (they all look like beasts by the way quite cool really).

Managed to take couple of quick shots from my camera. There are some really sweer rainbows in windows and thank you signs to the NHS but I don’t want to take a photo of them because its not fare on the home owner to take a photo with out permission.

So I snapped the little flower above and it made me think life like light finds a way and off to the shop I popped.

I saw a feather on the ground too so caught a photo of it on my way back.

I wanted to get the bottom of the telegraph pole in to the photo to so it is tricky to see the little white feather at the bottom of the pole.

That then got me thinking about American Indian Totem Poles when I got back home

So I went onto google and typed in Indian Totem Pole and found an image that I had permission to adjust and share and found this.

The pole above is from Alogonquin Provincial Park Canada

Also I hope you have a very happy Mother Earth Day
